Procedure

Thigh Lift, also known as Thighplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure to remove excess skin from the inner thigh (inner thigh lift or medial thigh lift), outer thigh (outer thigh lift), or knee (knee lift). This condition usually occurs after significant weight loss, which results in stretch marks and sagging skin.

Benefits

Dr. Ahmadi has seen his Houston Thigh Lift surgery patients enjoy the following benefits from their procedure:

  • Can get rid of unwanted fat
  • Ends chafing and discomfort
  • It lessens the chance of skin infection
  • Reduces the look of stretch marks
  • Removes excess skin
  • Tightens muscles to give a firmer thigh appearance

Ideal Candidate

You are a good candidate for a thigh lift procedure if you have loose skin on the inner thigh, knee, or outer thigh. A good test is to pull on the thigh skin and observe if the sagginess is corrected. During your consultation at Avante Plastic Surgery, Dr. Ahmadi will examine you to determine if the thigh lift suits you.

First Steps

If you are interested in a Thigh Lift in the Houston area, the first step you need to take is to contact Avante Plastic Surgery and schedule your consultation. When you come in for your appointment, you will be able to meet with Dr. Ahmad Ahmadi and discuss your current concerns and aesthetic goals for your thighs. He will examine you and ask you some questions about your medical history and lifestyle. It’s important to remember that Dr. Ahmadi is completely discreet and confidential, so your honesty and openness will help prevent unnecessary risks. After he collects the information he needs, Dr. Ahmadi will make your procedure plan and if you agree with it, our Patient Coordinator will help you schedule your surgical date.

Expectations

Dr. Ahmadi performs the thigh lift at our in-house surgery center. This facility is Qudad-A certified.

The outer thigh lift surgery incision is placed over the hip (often as an extension of the tummy tuck incision). The same incision can be extended back to do a buttock lift if necessary. There are two surgical techniques to perform the inner thigh lift: the groin crease incision and the inner thigh longitudinal incision. The groin crease incision can only lift the upper third of the inner thigh. Any attempt to lift more skin will result in unsightly widened groin scars. The inner longitudinal surgical technique can correct excess inner thigh skin all the way down to the knees if needed. The scar is hidden on the thigh’s inner aspect and heals exceptionally well.

Thigh lift surgery typically lasts between 2-3 hrs. This varies from patient to patient and patient and mostly depends on the amount of liposuction and skin excised.

Recovery

Following our detailed postoperative instructions is important to ensure a quick recovery. Swelling begins to subside after five days and, for the most part, resolves by week six. You must wear a compression garment for six weeks after surgery to minimize swelling. We strongly recommend that you avoid strenuous activities during this time.

We recommend having a caregiver around for five days after your thigh lift procedure. Driving short distances ten days after surgery is Ok. Going back to a desk job ten days after the thigh lift is Ok. However, if your job requires you to be physically active, you should wait for six weeks after the surgery. For the first six weeks post-surgery, you should refrain from lifting, pulling, or pushing anything heavier than five pounds. You will also need to avoid lifting, pulling, or pushing more than 5 lbs. for six weeks post-surgery will have dipterous consequences. Furthermore, we advise against any activity that increases your heart rate.

Dr. Ahmadi will keep an eye on the situation to ensure that keloids do not form during or after a surgical procedure, offering ways to prevent their occurrence.

Cost

The cost of a Thigh Lift in Houston will be determined by a number of factors, including the techniques that Dr. Ahmadi uses and the degree of change. After your consultation and you have your treatment plan made, our Patient Coordinator will be able to give you a breakdown of the full price for your surgery.

FAQ

Is a thigh lift painful?

Compared to other surgeries, a Thigh Lift is not typically very painful. Anesthesia will be used, so you should be comfortable throughout your procedure. After surgery, you can expect to feel some pain in your thighs, as well as swelling and bruising around the incision sites. Dr. Ahmadi will temporarily prescribe you some pain medication to help alleviate any pain or discomfort during your initial recovery as well as some directions that will also help.

Will I have a drain after my thigh lift?

Dr. Ahmadi does not use drains for the thigh lift procedure. Avoiding unnecessary drains results in less discomfort and quicker recovery.

Can I get liposuction instead of a thigh lift?

Liposuction and thigh lift achieve different objectives but are very powerful if combined. Liposuction is all you need if you have bulging tissue and no sagging skin. Liposuction removed excess fat. However, liposuction cannot tighten loose skin. Only surgical excision can remove sagging skin. With that being said, Dr. Ahmadi often adds liposuction to thigh lifts to achieve better contouring. During your consultation, Dr. Ahmdai will examine and determine which procedure suits you.

Will my skin sag again after thigh lift?

If you maintain a stable weight, neither the fat nor the loose will t return after your thigh lift.

How many appointments will I need?

You will need to return about a week after surgery so that Dr. Ahmadi can evaluate your recovery and remove any stitches or bandages. After this initial follow-up, you can expect at least two more times over the next few months. We take Thigh Lift photos six weeks after the procedure. Dr. Ahmadi will always let you know if and when he would like to see you again.

How long until I see results?

There may be some visible changes that are almost immediately noticeable, but it usually takes about six weeks to start seeing a noticeable improvement. Your results should continue to improve up to 12 months post-surgery.

Any reccomendations for patients from out of town?

For your convenience, you may choose to do a virtual consultation. If you decide to proceed with the surgery, we ask you to come for a face-to-face consultation. Following your procedure, we recommend you stay in town for 3-5 days. Please call us for recommendations for accommodations nearby.

Can I combine thigh lift with other procedures?

Absolutely! Many of our Houston Thigh Lift patients will combine their surgery with other body contouring procedures such as an Arm LiftBreast Lift, or Tummy Tuck. If you have any aesthetic goals in mind or would like to discuss your options with Dr. Ahmadi, please bring this up during your consultation
