Neck Lift Houston

Have you ever thought about a neck lift? Avante Plastic Surgery in Houston, TX is a great place to get this procedure. While not as well-known as a facelift or tummy tuck, neck lifts are popular cosmetic procedures designed to make you look and feel younger and happier with your appearance.

What Is A Neck Lift?

A neck lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the neck and jawline. Depending on what your desired results are, your neck lift may involve tightening loose or sagging skin, removing excess skin and fat, and tightening the neck muscle.

Neck lifts are a very common procedure. In 2020 alone, 160,235 neck lifts were performed in the United States.

Why Do I Want A Neck Lift?

A neck lift is a quick, easy procedure that typically has great results. As we age, the skin on our neck begins to lose its elasticity and develop a fine, crinkly, crepe-like texture. This skin begins to sag, impacting your self-image and making you physically uncomfortable. Many patients complain that certain clothing and jewelry become uncomfortable to wear as their neck skin begins to lose elasticity; a neck lift can alleviate this discomfort and return your neck to its youthful feel and appearance.

Neck lifts can also address specific aesthetic concerns, such as:

  • Double chins
  • Jowls
  • “Turkey” neck
  • Banding

Why Do I Want a Neck Lift?

Neck lift surgery corrects the typical signs of aging in the neck area. These signs include loose skin, jowling, double chin, and muscle bands (platysmal bands). Patients can expect smoothing of the jowls, correction of double chin, and tightening of the neck bands after a neck lift surgery. During your consultation, Dr. Ahmadi will discuss your goals and what you want your neck to look like.

What Other Procedures Are Typically Done With A Neck Lift Procedure?

Depending on your needs, Dr. Ahmadi may suggest a full facelift (to include a neck lift), a brow lift to reposition your eyebrows, an upper and lower eyelid tuck to remove excess skin and fat from the eyelids, and neck liposuction to better contour your neck, laser resurfacing, and dermal fillers.

How Is Neck Lift Surgery Performed?

Dr. Ahmdadi typically performs neck lift surgery under general anesthesia or IV sedation. He will start by making separate incisions around the ear and the behind the chin crease. The incisions are carefully placed so that they are well hidden. Next, the muscles and skin are tightened to give your neck a youthful appearance. Dr. Ahmadi will then remove the excess fat and liposuction the neck to provide you with the desired smooth results.

How Much Will A Houston Neck Lift Cost?

Neck lift surgery cost will vary depending on the surgeon’s skill and the additional procedures required. Please get in touch with our office for an estimate. An exact price can be given at the time of your consultation. Financing is also available.

Is There Any Scarring?

Some patients prefer to get a mini neck lift. This is also known as a minimally invasive neck lift. It does not provide as much contouring as a neck lift, but it may be suitable in certain cases. Since there is reduced incision, the recovery will be quicker. Another option to consider is the thread lift. This is a non-surgical procedure that, in the cases of less advanced aging, can achieve desirable neck contouring.

How Long Is The Neck Lift Recovery?

Neck lifts are generally considered one of the easier plastic surgery procedures to recover from. This is an outpatient procedure so you will go home after surgery. There will usually be drains placed at the conclusion of your surgery, and you may be sent home wearing a head and neck compression dressing that will be freshened the next day. Typically, patients return the next day for a drain check and dressing changes. The drains are usually removed the day following your surgery.

During the immediate recovery, you will see some side effects. Swelling and bruising are the two most common side effects, and the extent of the swelling and bruising depends on how much excess skin you have and how much sculpting of fat and underlying tissue occurs.

The bruising and swelling go down quickly, and you only need to take it easy for a few days. In fact, surgeons don’t recommend bed rest– just relaxation and reduced activity. You will need to use extra pillows to keep your neck above heart level as you sleep– it isn’t advisable to lay completely flat for a while.

What Activities Can I Do After A Neck Lift?

For the first few days after a neck lift, you should rest and recuperate at home. You can get up to use the restroom and move around, but you should not be doing anything strenuous that might raise your blood pressure. Depending upon the incisions Dr. Ahmadi made, it may be several weeks before swimming, immersion in water, or steamy showers are safe again, and even longer before you can get back to intense exercise. During your consultation, you can discuss your activities with Dr. Ahmadi and work on a plan for your return to the activity.

How Long Does A Neck Lift Last?

Neck lifts are highly effective procedures with results that can last 10-15 years. You will start to see the results in the first two to four weeks, but it takes six months to a year for the procedure to create a completely settled appearance. Once you’re past the twelve-month recovery mark, you will see exactly what your neck will look like for the next decade or even longer.
