First Steps

You will meet with Dr. Ahmadi and his patient coordinator. Dr. Ahmadi will listen to you and ask questions to guide you through decision-making. He will discuss the procedure and recovery with you. The Patient Coordinator will give you a quote for your procedure. Our patients say the consultation process is informative, relaxing, and fun. Our patients also tell us they wish they had come for consultation sooner and avoided all the hassle of searching and sifting through the plethora of online information, which is often confusing.

The consultation fee is nonrefundable, but don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for details. We assure you that the money spent will be well worth it. You will have your questions answered honestly by Dr. Ahmadi. You will not be pressured to sign up for surgery and get many questions answered.

Expectations

Dr. Ahmadi performs all surgeries at Sweetwater Surgery Center, a QuadA-certified outpatient surgical center.

LipoTuck™ takes longer to perform than a traditional abdominoplasty. The additional time is spent on contouring the body and doing liposuction. Dr. Ahmadi will make an incision around the belly button to release it from the surrounding skin. Next, the skin from the top of the belly button gets pulled down over the belly button to the pubic area. A new hole will be made, and the belly button gets pulled through. Of course, there is more to it than that. Dr. Ahmadi’s belly buttons are renowned for their natural appearance.

Typically Lipotuck™ lasts between 4-6 hours, depending on each patient and the total number of liposuction areas.

Post Procedure

The recovery is not longer than a traditional tuck. However, most patients report returning to their lives faster than friends who have had a tuck elsewhere. This is because of our carefully planned and aggressive recovery protocol. The fact that no drains are used in a LipoTuck™ significantly helps the recovery process.

You will be required to have someone drive you home after the surgery. Usually, patients can drive a week or two after their surgery and return to a desk job 10-14 days after surgery with lifting precautions.

You cannot lift, pull, or push anything more than five lbs for six weeks post-surgery. Patients can usually drive ten days after surgery. Of course, everyone heals differently.

After your LipoTuck™, your belly button will be small and attractive, and after recovery, it will look very natural. Typically the pubic area will be lifted and liposuctioned during LipoTuck™, so you won’t have to worry about any bulging from excess skin or fat.

Cost

The cost of LipoTuck™ in Houston will vary on a number of factors. You may contact us to receive an approximate cost. The price covers anesthesia, facility, surgery fees, and routine follow-ups. Since every person is different, we can only provide the exact cost at the consultation. LipoTuck™ is much more cost-effective than getting an abdominoplasty and liposuction separately.

LipoTuck™ is a cosmetic procedure not covered by insurance.  We do have financing options available. We offer financing options and have partnered with Alphaeon Credit, Care Credit, and United Medical Credit.

FAQs

Why do people choose LipoTuck™ over tummy tuck or liposuction?

A traditional tuck fails to address the upper abdomen, hips, and love handles. Patients undergoing this procedure frequently have residual upper abdomen, pubic, and bra bulges. These patients lack waistline curves and often seek liposuction later to correct what should have been addressed the first time. By perfectly combining lipo and tuck, LipoTuck™ offers a one-stage solution for body contouring.

Can I just get liposuction?

That depends on whether your abdominal skin is hanging. If there is any loose skin, liposuction makes the condition worse. Skin laxity usually results from rapid or severe weight loss (commonly seen after weight loss procedures such as Lap Band or gastric bypass) or stretch marks (frequently seen after pregnancy). During your consultation, Dr. Ahmadi can tell you if liposuction is all you need.

Is LipoTuck™ painful?

Pulling the skin and tightening the abdominal muscles are uncomfortable. However, all patients receive adequate pain medication to ensure they are comfortable after surgery.

In general, the pain is less than in a C-section. Most patients take a few days of pain medication and stop. They commonly report being “tight” which resolves after a few days. Keep in mind that everyone has a different threshold for pain.

Do I need to have a long incision? How will I scar?

After recovery, your scar will end up as a thin line along the bottom of your abdomen. The incision length depends on how far back the skin laxity extends. If the skin only hangs in the front, the incision will also be limited to the front. The good news is that the incision is placed low so it can be covered by underwear. During recovery, ointments, injections, and silicone sheets will keep the scar flat and thin. However, the quality of the scar varies from patient to patient. Following all of Dr. Ahmadi’s instructions is essential for the best results.

In most cases for patients with a C-section scar, it will be removed leaving you with a new scar. If you get keloids very easily, there are ways to prevent them during and after surgery. Dr. Ahmadi will monitor and watch closely, so the scars don’t form keloids.

How many appointments will I need?

Dr. Ahmadi will have you return for a follow-up appointment the next day and a few more check-ups over the next few months. Around six weeks post-surgery, we will take photos of you for comparison.

Can I talk to previous LipoTuck™ patients?

We encourage you to talk to previous patients and ask questions, obtain information about their experience, and address any concerns. After your consultation, a list of patients can be given to you upon request.

I am from out of state or another city. What do you recommend?

We can start with a virtual consultation and do an in-office visit later. If you decide to proceed with the surgery, we ask you to stay in town for a few days. We have special pricing set up with local hotels.

Should I lose weight before my LipoTuck™ Surgery?

Maybe not, but please call our office and ask one of our coordinators for recommendations. Dr. Ahmadi will recommend losing weight before your LipoTuck™ if necessary to achieve optimal results. Performing LipoTuck™ on a “loose abdomen” compared to a “tight abdomen” produces significantly better results.

Are you available after hours if I have any questions?

Our nurse is available for emergency questions and concerns after hours.

I’m planning on becoming pregnant. Should I have the LipoTuck™ now or wait?

Suppose you are planning on becoming pregnant in the near future. In that case, we recommend you postpone your surgery until after pregnancy since the abdominal muscles can expand, and the skin will be stretched during pregnancy.
