Kybella, Avante Plastic Surgery, Houston

Your neck is one of the most difficult areas of your body to train and work out, which is unfortunate since that’s one of the most common spots where stubborn fat likes to accumulate. While there may be some sort of P-90x or Crossfit technique or a new diet that all the celebrities are doing to help with the appearance of a “double chin”, the truth is that stubborn chin fat affects many people worldwide. Avante Plastic Surgery offers non-surgical Kybella treatment to our Houston patients to help them reduce the visual signs of a double chin, obtaining a profile that can boost confidence. To learn more about the treatment and find out if you’re a viable candidate, please read the information we have provided below.

About Kybella

Kybella, Avante Plastic Surgery, Houston

Kybella is an injectable treatment that is made from deoxycholic acid, a compound found naturally in your body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. By injecting it directly into the fatty tissues underneath the chin, we can permanently destroy the stubborn fat cells and even prevent future accumulation of fat in the future. It is a series of quick and safe injections that require no healing time, even allowing patients to return to their daily routine with no one being the wiser! While the results aren’t instant, they are incredibly long-lasting.

While those patients who have a thyroid disorder are still potential candidates for Kybella, please be sure to inform Dr. Ahmadi during your consultation.

First Step for Kybella

Kybella, Avante Plastic Surgery, Houston

The first step in getting Kybella in Houston is to contact Avante Plastic Surgery and schedule your consultation. When you come in for this appointment, you will be able to meet with our very own Dr. Ahmad Ahmadi who will evaluate your chin, discuss your goals for the treatment, and ask you questions regarding your medical history and lifestyle. When discussing your medical history, it is important to be open and honest; he is completely discreet and is using the information you provide to avoid any unnecessary risks during your treatment or recovery.

After getting all of the information they need, Dr. Ahmadi will create your treatment plan and if you agree with it, we can perform your first treatment session immediately after. However, if there is any reason that you would like to reschedule for another time, our Patient Coordinator can assist you with that.

Kybella Expectations

Kybella, Avante Plastic Surgery, Houston

On the day of the treatment, like all of our non-surgical options, you will be able to have performed at Avante Plastic Surgery. You will begin with a topical anesthetic being applied to numb the area under your jaw to alleviate any pain or discomfort you might feel. Next, Dr. Ahmadi will inject the Kybella solution into the fat resting below your chin and any other pre-determined target areas. An ice pack may be used to relieve swelling.

Each session takes about 15 – 20 minutes, allowing for quick visits that can be performed during a lunch break.

Recovery

Once you’re finished with your treatment, you are free to continue with your day. There may be some minor side effects such as swelling, numbness, and bruising around the injection sites. This is a completely normal reaction and should subside within 24 to 48 hours, however, it can take up to a few weeks. We like to recommend our patients schedule their treatment before the weekend so they can have at least two days of recovery time.

To minimize swelling, you should avoid consuming salt or alcohol for a few days before and after the treatment. Staying well-hydrated is extremely important, and you can use ice intermittently for a few hours after your procedure to alleviate any pain or discomfort.

FAQ

Is kybella painful?

Pain tolerance is an individualized subject and Dr. Ahmadi utilizes his skill and experience to provide the best possible experience for his Kybella patients. You can expect some mild discomfort from the injection, and some patients have expressed feeling a burning or stinging sensation shortly after undergoing their treatment. If you have any concerns, about pain or discomfort, Dr. Ahmadi will be able to take certain measures to help alleviate any of those negative reactions.

How many appointments will I need?

No two patients are alike and everyone will have a different experience with the Kybella treatment. We have seen our patients get the best results with multiple treatment sessions, with some requiring up to a total of six, all spaced apart by at least one month.

How long until I see results?

The amount of time required to see results will depend on the degree of change that you are working towards, and how your body responds to the treatment. At Avante, we completely understand your desire for quick results, but this is one of those procedures that requires time and patience. You should begin noticing positive changes in your appearance within the first four to six weeks, but most patients see their final results about three months following their first session.

Can I combine Kybella with other procedures?

If you are looking to combine other treatments with Kybella, please discuss this with Dr. Ahmadi during your consultation. Many of our patients will often combine other body contouring treatments like Liposuction to achieve an overall body type, while others may wish to utilize our non-surgical options like BOTOX for a more youthful appearance.
