Breast Implant Revision

Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Houston and Sugar Land, TX

Breast Augmentation is a very popular procedure all over the world, but what the average person may not realize is that while it’s very long-lasting, implants don’t last forever. Most implant patients can enjoy the procedure results for many years, but they still have a shelf life, and in other cases, there have been instances where the implant ruptures. Dr. Ahmadi strives to provide his Houston Breast Implant Revision patients with the kind of results that encourage body positivity and improves their self-confidence. Keep reading below to learn more about the procedure and learn if it’s right for you!

Breast Implant Revision is a surgical procedure that removes previous breast implants to replace them with new and/or different ones. There are many reasons why a woman would be interested in implant revision surgery, such as:

  • Dissatisfaction with size
  • Significant scar tissue
  • Breast asymmetry
  • Capsular contracture (breast hardness)
  • Deflated or ruptured implants
  • Correct rippling or folding of implants
  • Rotation of implants
  • Implants sitting too low
  • Update implant material
  • Refresh results after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuation

Please keep in mind that implant revision is more complex than the initial breast augmentation, so it’s important to have realistic goals in mind.

Benefits

Breast Implant Revision in Houston can have many advantages, producing a variety of benefits depending on the patient, which includes:

  • Better positioning of your implants
  • Clothing fits better and potentially gives you more options
  • Improvement in the size and shape of your breasts
  • Provides balance to your breasts
  • Restore self-confidence

First Steps

The first step to getting Breast Implant Revision in Houston is to contact Avante Plastic Surgery and schedule a consultation. When you come in for your appointment, you will meet with Dr. Ahmad Ahmadi in his office and discuss the surgery, address any questions or concerns, and give an evaluation of your breasts and body type. You will be asked certain questions regarding your medical and surgical history, so please be very honest during your consultation. It is very important that he fully understands your history and your goals before surgery so that he can meet your aesthetic desires and avoid any unnecessary risks.

Dr. Ahmadi will discuss your implant options and the surgical methods he intends to use. Once the two of you agree on every step of your surgery, he will create your procedure plan. After this is made, our Patient Coordinator will assist you in scheduling your surgery and give you some directions to follow before coming in.

Expectations

Every patient will have a slightly different experience based on their individual needs, but each surgery is performed under anesthesia. This will be either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, depending on what you and Dr. Ahmadi discussed in your consultation.

The procedure begins with deliberate incisions being made that meet your particular revision needs; Dr. Ahmadi will typically make incisions in the pre-existing scars left over from your initial surgery. The original implant will be removed as well as any excess skin or tissue. The replacement implant will then be inserted and secured into place. Finally, Dr. Ahmadi will seal up the incisions with sutures, skin adhesives, tapes, or clips.

Recovery

Once you are finished with your surgery, we will monitor you until you wake up from sedation. When Dr. Ahmadi feels like you are good to go, he will release you so that you may return home to recover in peace. You should have a family member or friend provide you with a ride home and be able to stay with you for the next day or so to assist you with basic tasks, as you will likely be very sore. We will wrap your breasts in a compression garment to reduce swelling and provide additional support; you may be told to also wear a sports bra for a similar reason. Dr. Ahmadi may temporarily leave a small tube in the incision to help with draining excess blood or fluid.

You should feel comfortable to return to most activities after about a week, however, you will need to avoid any vigorous or strenuous activity for the first three weeks as your new implants settle into place.

Cost

The cost of Breast Implant Revision in Houston will depend on a variety of factors, including the size and material of your new implant, and the techniques that Dr. Ahmadi uses. The best way to find out how much your revisional surgery will be is to schedule your consultation at Avante Plastic Surgery. After your custom procedure plan is made, our Patient Coordinator can use that information to provide you with an accurate cost breakdown.

FAQ

Is breast implant revision painful?

Each patient will have a different tolerance for pain, so recovery may be tougher for some than others. Your surgery will be performed while you are sedated so you shouldn’t experience any pain or discomfort. There can be some expected pain or discomfort during the first month of recovery due to the sutures used to close up the capsules. Dr. Ahmadi does prescribe temporary pain medication to help alleviate any pain during your initial recovery. We will also provide you with certain directions on how to have the easiest healing process possible.

How many appointments will I need?

Dr. Ahmadi will have you return about a week after your surgery to remove any sutures or bandages and see how you are healing. After that first check-up appointment, you can expect to return a few more times, usually around four to six weeks post-surgery, again at three months, and finally, once more about six months after that. You will always be given his opinion on your recovery and when you can expect to return.

How long until I see results?

The degree of change will play a major factor in visible results, but you should be able to notice a difference immediately after surgery. You will be swollen and bruised which can last up to a month, but as these reactions subside, you should see clearer results. Most patients see their final results around six months when their breasts feel normal again.

Can I combine breast implant revision and other procedures?

Of course! Our Breast Implant Revision patients in Houston will often combine their surgery with other body contouring surgeries such as a Tummy Tuck or Liposuction. If you have particular body goals in mind, please mention them to Dr. Ahmadi during your consultation so that he will be able to offer his expert recommendations.

What are risks associated with breast implant revision?
