There are many ways to enhance your features, and depending on the techniques and materials used, some can produce some “unnatural” results. Aside from spending hours in the gym obsessively working towards a realistically enhanced look, there are also cosmetic enhancement options, both surgical and non-surgical.

The beauty about Brazilian Butt Lift procedures in Houston is that they can create larger, more rounded, and natural-looking buttocks using fat tissue removed from your own body, so you don’t have to worry about some of the riskier side effects that come from other artificial options. What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Brazilian Butt Lift, BBL, Avante Plastic Surgery, Houston

A Brazilian Butt Lift procedure (BBL) is a very popular buttock augmentation cosmetic surgery, especially more recently when women are actively looking to achieve a larger butt. This procedure uses your own fat cells that have been removed from your body through liposuction and are purified and concentrated, and inserted into strategic areas of your buttocks. This is a technique that is also referred to as fat grafting. The combination of these two techniques not only gives you a more shapely backside but can also improve the contours of your body.

First Step for a Brazilian Butt Lift

Brazilian Butt Lift, BBL, Avante Plastic Surgery, Houston

The first step in getting a Brazilian Butt Lift in Houston includes having a detailed consultation at Avante Plastic Surgery. When you come in for your appointment, you will meet with your cosmetic surgeon Dr. Ahmadi and discuss your medical history, lifestyle, and any expectations you have regarding the treatment. You may even request to see some Brazilian butt lift videos of Dr. Ahmadi discussing the procedure or photos of our previous patients’ surgery and results.

It’s very important to be open and honest with your provider when having these conversations. We understand that there may be embarrassment or some level of discomfort when discussing your goals, but the more information you provide, the more efficient Dr. Ahmadi can be to help you achieve positive results and avoid unnecessary risks.

Dr. Ahmadi will make you a personalized surgical plan, and if you agree with it, our Patient Coordinator will help you schedule your procedure date. You will also be provided with a list of directions to follow before your Brazilian Butt Lift, which can include asking that you stop taking medications that increase bleeding (i.e. aspirin, specific supplements, and anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen).

Brazilian Butt Lift Expectations

On the day of your Houston Brazillian Butt Lift surgery, you will first be administered general anesthesia for a more comfortable cosmetic procedure. Dr. Ahmadi will begin by using Liposuction to remove excess fat for your gluteal fat grafting, which is unwanted fat obtained from the abdomen, flanks, back, outer thighs, or upper arms.

The purified fat is placed in a centrifuge to turn it into a higher fat concentration so it can be placed back into your lower body safely and efficiently. Dr. Ahmadi then makes several small incisions on your buttocks and then inserts a rod-like tool (cannula) through the incision, and gently rocks it back and forth to loosen up any bands of tissue.

Next, through a process that is essentially liposuction in reverse as it uses fat grafting procedures to enhance your buttocks. Dr. Ahmadi will rely on his skills and artistic eye to transfer the extracted fat into specific locations on flat buttocks, creating sexier and more-rounded buttocks with a smoother and more uniform look. Once the desired shape and size have been achieved, the incisions are closed and wrapped in a dressing, followed by a compression garment to minimize swelling, which you should wear for at least the first two weeks.

The procedure takes two to four hours to complete, and most patients can expect about 70% of the transferred fat to remain after the first three to four months.

Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery

Dr. Ahmadi will release you when he feels comfortable and you will be able to recover at home. You will need a family member or friend to give you a ride home, as you will not be able to sit or lie directly on your butt for the first two weeks. Dr. Ahmadi will prescribe some temporary pain medication and will provide you with tips and suggestions on how to have the most optimal results possible. You can expect your BBL recovery to take about a total of six to eight weeks.

The first several days after your Brazilian Butt Lift surgery you may experience some of the following:

  • Your butt may be swollen and bruised
  • Your incisions may bleed slightly
  • You may retain fluid around your affected areas

After a few weeks, you may be able to sit for short periods on a donut pillow, which you will need to continue using for approximately eight weeks. Around this point, and with Dr. Ahmadi’s expressed consent, you should be able to participate in light exercise again, however, you must avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activities for a few months.

Cost of Brazilian Butt Lift in Houston, TX

The cost for a Brazilian Butt Lift in Houston can vary on a number of factors, including the degree of change you’re looking for and the amount of fat needed to achieve it. When you come in for your consultation and Dr. Ahmadi has a better idea of how to meet your needs, our Patient Coordinator will use your procedure plan to show you a complete breakdown of your experience.

FAQ

Is a brazilian butt lift painful?

Your Brazilian Butt Lift will be performed under general anesthesia, so you should be very comfortable. Most patients find the BBL recovery to be tolerable but can be uncomfortable for the first few months as you will not be able to put your full weight on your buttocks. We will provide you with instructions on how to make your healing process as comfortable as possible and Dr. Ahmadi will prescribe you some temporary pain medication.

Can I sit down after a brazilian butt lift?

When it comes to determining when you can sit after a Houston, TX Brazilian Butt Lift, it’s best to consult your surgeon. Dr. Ahmadi recommends that patients avoid sitting for up to two weeks after their surgery, as this can increase the risk of complications and slow down the healing process. During your post-operative appointments, Dr. Ahmadi will provide more individualized instructions depending on your unique circumstances.

Will there be scarring?

When it comes to Brazilian Butt Lifts, many people are concerned with the amount of scarring they will have on their skin. But when you trust your procedure to Dr. Ahmad Ahmadi in Houston, you can rest assured that he will do everything possible to minimize any scarring.

How many appointments will I need?

You will return about a week after your procedure so that Dr. Ahmadi will be able to monitor your progress. After that initial check-up, you will most likely be asked to return a few months later, and finally, around six months post-op to take some “After” photos and ensure your happiness with your results.

How long until I see results?

You should see results immediately following your surgery, but it is important to understand that over the next three to four months, your body will begin to naturally absorb some of the injected fat. This is to be expected, and most patients can keep about 70% of the fat, so if your butt appears to be shrinking, it is! This process can take up to six months, so please be patient.

Once the remaining fat settles into its resting position, you can enjoy the results for many years to come, which can be prolonged or even improved with a proper diet and exercise.

How will I go to the restroom after a BBL?

It’s natural to be concerned about going to the restroom after a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). After all, you want to make sure everything goes smoothly and doesn’t interfere with your results. Fortunately, Dr. Ahmad Ahmadi in Houston is here to help. He makes sure his patients understand how they should safely use the restroom after their BBL procedure.

The first step is to remember that going to the restroom immediately after your surgery isn’t recommended, as it can cause undo strain on the area and disrupt your results. Instead, you should wait until the next day or two in order to ensure a successful recovery. Once it’s safe to do so, Dr. Ahmadi recommends that you go to the restroom gently and slowly. It’s best to use a sitting position instead of standing up, as this puts less strain on your buttocks area.

Dr. Ahmadi also suggests avoiding constipation, which can be prevented by drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy diet of foods that are rich in fiber. Additionally, he recommends avoiding any strenuous activities such as heavy lifting or running for at least two weeks after your BBL.

Can I combine brazilian butt lift with other procedures?

Of course! Many of our Houston BBL patients will combine their procedure with additional body contouring procedures, including a Tummy Tuck, additional Liposuction, or Breast Augmentation, to create a more defined body shape. If you have a particular look in mind or would like to defer to Dr. Ahmadi’s suggestions, please bring this up during your consultation.

What’s the difference between a BBL and butt implants?

Although both procedures are a form of buttock augmentation, the main difference is that with a Brazilian Butt Lift, board-certified plastic surgeons use fat transfer techniques as opposed to silicone implants used for butt implants. Buttock implants are usually made of silicone, whereas a traditional BBL only uses fat transfer to remove fat from one area of the body and add it to the buttocks. With either a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure or butt implants, your plastic surgeon will recommend you be at a stable weight and have a healthy lifestyle. Both surgeries are done as an outpatient procedure. The recovery period will vary based on the procedure and prescription pain medication will be prescribed by your plastic surgeon to help during the process.

Are brazilian butt lifts safe?

When performed by a trained plastic surgeon in an accredited surgical facility, this surgical procedure is considered to be very safe. While it is a complex procedure that does have the potential for complications, they are incredibly rare.

What are the risks associated with brazilian butt lift?

A Brazilian Butt Lift surgery is an overall very safe procedure with some very uncommon risks, especially when performed by a skilled cosmetic surgeon. We do believe full disclosure is important in producing positive results. Some of the potential side effects of BBL surgery include:
• Asymmetrical (uneven) results
• Blood clots
• Bruising
• Cardiac and pulmonary complications
• Deep vein thrombosis
• Excessive blood loss
• Fat embolism (injected fat moves into the bloodstream and travels to the lungs)
• Fat reabsorption
• Infection
• Seroma (build-up of clear fluid)
• Stretch marks
• Tissue death (necrosis)

While some of these side effects are to be expected and will disappear over the weeks following your procedure, if you experience any severe or concerning reactions, please contact us immediately.

Why are they called brazilian butt lift procedures?

Oddly enough, the Brazilian butt lift procedure does not actually come from Brazil. While the origin of the name is widely debated, it is most commonly agreed upon that the name is credited to Dr. Ivo Pitanguy, one of Brazil’s most famous plastic surgeons, who first started publishing information on the Brazilian Butt Lift back in the 60s.
