Diet and Exercise After LipoTuck™ is a Good Thing

After much consideration, you’ve decided that LipoTuck™ is right for you. You’ve had the surgery, are pleased with the results, and are starting to see a “new you” emerge. However, you are left with one huge question, what do I do now, and how do I maintain my new body?

While you can expect excellent results from LipoTuck™, a revolutionary tummy tuck and liposuction procedure trademarked by Dr. Ahmadi, diet and exercise are essential tools you must add to your arsenal.

How Long After LipoTuck™ Should I Wait to Exercise?

Great question! Typically, seven days after abdominal surgery, patients should be able to take short walks. By week six, they should be well enough to engage in light cardio exercises and most can resume normal activities (but should still be cautious). Exercising too soon after surgery and engaging in strenuous activities (like heavy lifting) can cause incision sites to reopen and increase the risk of infection, bleeding, and swelling.

If I Exercise and Lose Weight, Won’t My Skin Become Saggy Again?

Absolutely not! LipoTuck™ gets rid of all the damaged abdominal skin that has lost its elasticity. As a result, you are left with good healthy skin that will regain its shape as you lose weight. In fact, as you lose weight, your results only continue to look better. Give it a try and be amazed at the results.

What Types of Exercise Do You Recommend?

After surgery, the best exercises would be low-impact. Low-impact exercises include walking, jogging, and yoga. To achieve the best results, the goal is to slowly re-acclimate your muscles while reducing the likelihood of injury.

The American Council on Exercise (ACE) recommends burning at least 250 calories daily through physical activity and reducing your caloric intake by 250 points to maintain a slow, steady weight loss of one pound a week. That equates to one less Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino. We know…it’s a big sacrifice, but you can do it!

Are There Any Tools to Assist Me in My Journey?

There are several calorie counting tools on the market such as Lose It! or MyFitnessPal. Both tools not only keep track of your caloric intake and physical activities, but also educate patients on the importance of practicing better habits and offer online support in achieving a healthier lifestyle.

Be Fit and Fabulous!

LipoTuck™ is a great way to sculpt your body, but that is only half the battle. Implementing a diet and exercise regimen is an excellent way to achieve the long-term results you desire.
